E4BN Member Substantive Hearing Begins Next Week 1st June 2026

Equality 4 Black Nurses (E4BN) will be supporting one of our members as their Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) substantive hearing begins next week.
The case concerns allegations dating back several years relating to patient observations, medication administration and safeguarding. Our member denies serious wrongdoing and maintains that important context, assumptions and alternative explanations were not properly considered during the original investigation.
Over the last year, our member has continued to work as a registered nurse. They disclosed their NMC restrictions to their employer, successfully obtained employment, completed supervision, medication competency assessments, reflective practice and ongoing professional development.
In April 2026, an NMC panel revoked the member’s interim conditions of practice after finding that the risk of repetition was low and that restrictions were no longer necessary.
The substantive hearing will now consider the underlying allegations and determine whether the NMC has proved its case.
E4BN believes that fairness, transparency and proper scrutiny of evidence are essential in all regulatory proceedings. The hearing will provide an opportunity for the evidence to be tested in public and for witnesses to be questioned on the assumptions, conclusions and decisions that led to the referral.
We encourage nurses, healthcare professionals, students, researchers and members of the public with an interest in fairness and regulatory justice to attend and observe the proceedings.
This hearing raises important questions about:
How workplace concerns are investigated.
The distinction between evidence and assumptions.
The treatment of internationally educated and Black nurses within professional regulation.
The role of remediation, reflection and rehabilitation.
Whether historic concerns continue to justify regulatory action years later.
E4BN will continue to support our member throughout the hearing process and will provide updates as appropriate.
If you would like to attend and observe the hearing, please email E4BN at:
We will provide the hearing details and public access information once available.
Justice delayed should never become justice denied.
