Equality 4 Black Nurses: A New Era of Membership

Over the past few years, Equality 4 Black Nurses (E4BN) has transformed. What began as a small, informal support network has grown into a national organisation. We provide advocacy, representation, training, and community for Black nurses facing significant challenges in the profession. With this growth comes responsibility. We owe it to our members, the people we support, and the sustainability of our organisation.
What is Changing
From Wednesday 4th February 2026, E4BN will transition to members-only access across our core support spaces and services.
This means that access to the following will be limited to active paid members:
The E4BN WhatsApp support group
Weekly E4BN Zoom sessions and member meetings
Advocacy and representation
Professional development and training
Case-related and individual support
These changes are essential. They ensure that E4BN can operate safely, ethically, and sustainably while protecting the integrity of the spaces we hold for our members.
Why This Step is Necessary
E4BN’s work involves high-risk advocacy and emotionally demanding casework. It requires a significant investment of time, labour, and expertise. As our organisation has grown, it has become clear that informal access models are no longer viable.
Moving to a members-only structure allows us to:
Protect the sustainability of the organisation
Maintain safe, focused, and confidential spaces
Provide consistent and fair access to support
Set clear expectations about what E4BN can offer
This shift is not about exclusion. It is about clarity, fairness, and accountability to our members and the organisation itself.
Acknowledging Early Supporters
We recognise that many people joined E4BN before a formal membership system existed. We are deeply grateful to those early supporters. They helped build this community when it was small, informal, and largely unfunded.
As E4BN has grown, we must now operate with clear, transparent, and consistent structures that support the long-term future of the organisation and the people who rely on it.
What This Means in Practice
To remain in the E4BN WhatsApp group and attend weekly Zoom sessions, individuals must hold an active membership by 4th February 2026.
Weekly Zoom links will be shared with members only.
Advocacy, representation, and training will be available to members only and are subject to organisational capacity.
A new members-only section of the E4BN website will be launching. This section will host training materials, resources, and updates.
During the transition period, the WhatsApp group will be restricted to members. This will allow for the orderly removal of non-members and the addition of new members.
How to Activate or Maintain Membership

Looking Ahead
This transition marks an important step in E4BN’s development. By putting clear structures in place now, we protect the organisation’s ability to continue supporting Black nurses not just today, but in the long term.
The Importance of Community
Community is vital. It is the backbone of our organisation. We thrive when we support one another. Together, we can advocate for systemic change. Together, we can empower Black nurses to thrive in their careers and leadership roles.
Embracing Change
Change can be daunting. Yet, it is often necessary for growth. As we embrace this new membership model, we invite you to join us. Together, we can build a stronger, more equitable nursing profession.
Conclusion
We thank our community for their understanding and continued support as we move into this next phase. Your commitment is invaluable. Together, we will create a future where Black nurses can excel and lead.
